A great day of racing at R/C Madness in Enfield, Connecticut.

R/C Madness has one of the largest 1/8-scale outdoor dirt tracks in New England, with a layout that mixes fast sections, elevation changes, rhythm sections, and technical jumps. It’s the kind of track that can look smooth and predictable early in the day, then become a completely different challenge once enough cars start putting laps on it.

We started the day under clear skies with great track conditions and plenty of grip. As the racing went on, the surface began to wear in. Holes developed, lines changed, and the track started building some real character. What worked early in the day didn’t always work later, and drivers had to adjust as the surface became rougher and more technical.

My SWORKz S35-4 Nitro EVO was great all day and gave me the confidence to push through qualifying. I was able to qualify first for the B Main, which felt like a strong result going into the final.

Unfortunately, once the 15-minute B Main got underway, the nerves got the better of me. A few mistakes added up, and I ended up finishing fifth. Not the result I wanted after starting from the top spot, but definitely one of those races you learn from.

That’s part of what makes outdoor nitro racing so rewarding. The track changes, the pressure builds, and every race gives you something to take back to the bench for the next one.

From behind the camera, it was also an awesome day to capture — cars working through the rough sections, suspension moving, dirt flying, and drivers adapting as the track developed more character with every heat.

Here are some moments from race day at R/C Madness. 🏁📸
